We are looking for highly-motivated students and postdocs for various research projects - see list (you are also welcome to suggest your own ideas for a project in related topics). For postdocs, a list of funding opportunities may be found here. What do you need to have in order to join us? You will need to be creative and keen. You will need to develop high computational skills, but do not have to be a computer programmer to join our lab (you will learn to program here). If you are not scared of computers and are curious enough to ask the right questions then your place is with us... What will be your working tools? First, your computer. Students are expected to use programming languages like Python, R, Fortran, MATLAB and IDL to develop their own models and analyze data. GIS platforms (ArcGIS or QGIS) may be also used. You will probably work with spectral, thermal and hyper-spectral information derived from satellites, drones and/or in-situ sensors (proximal sensing) as well as with other advanced systems. Field work is required in some projects, which may include also flying our unique drone system (cool, isn't it?). What do we expect from you to achieve? I expect from my students to be keen and creative in their research. You are expected to present your results in conferences (in Israel and abroad) as well as to publish the results in highly-rated scientific journals. Want to join the Lab? Prospective graduate students: Please send a CV including GPA scores and a brief statement describing your research interests and background to David Helman Prospective postdocs: Please send a CV and brief statement of interests and background to David Helman Postdocs from the US that want to conduct their research in our Lab are encouraged to apply to the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship - Please contact me for assistance (deadline for application is September 15, 2020) |
